Ivan Ussach
Head of Operations
I rejoined Common Good in 2023 after a two-year hiatus. As a human ecologist and educator, I continue to serve in a variety of community service roles, including director of both the Millers River Watershed Council, based in Athol, MA, and the Warwick (MA) Free Public Library. I co-founded the Rainforest Alliance in New York City, where I developed the Smart Wood Certification Program, and was a founding member of the Forest Stewardship Council. I also was a founding member of Earthlands in Petersham, MA, and have worked extensively with the Sacred Earth Network on deep ecology and Russian biodiversity projects.
I am an avid drummer, walker and history buff. I served as chair of the Gill (MA) Historical Commission and represented the Commission on the Great Falls BattleField Grant Advisory Committee supervising a long-term study of the 1676 battle that was a turning point in King Philip’s War.
I graduated from Columbia College in NYC and received an M.P.H. degree from the Columbia University School of Public Health with a concentration in Environmental Science.
